If it doesn't say "bitmap" under the image swatch (highlighted in yellow here), click on the word that is there to bring up the texture options list. When you click on the icon the right panel of the Asset Editor will open to reveal the Texture manipulation options: The check-box ( ) is used to toggle between background color and background texture. If it is a texture, the brightness of the image is controlled by the numeric input field. The background setting may be a simple color (default=black), or a texture (indicated by the icon). In the V-Ray Asset Editor's "Settings" area look for the "Environment" options.Ĭlick on "Environment to expand that section. The environment of the ball is provided by an image of a sunrise, wrapped around the ball and rendered in the reflections and refracted light. The model at right consists of a single glass ball. That is an environment and in V-Ray there are two main ways to do this. You might choose to extend your model to include much or all of this context, but that can get unwieldy, so it might be easier to add that context as a background image instead. The geometry of your model probably has some context: a site, a neighborhood, etc. A simple restart fixed it - it may be unrelated to the AMD Drivers.TAPESTRY: The Art of Representation and Abstraction Rhino + V-Ray: Environments UPDATE 2: The problem persisted as I was trying to diagnose other errors (VRAY asset editor scaling issues). Good luck everyone, and careful with your software updates, especially with bootcamped macs. UPDATE: I have uninstalled AMD 20.10 using their uninstaller app, and reverted all the way back to 18.40.

I have the latest 20.10 AMD driver update installed. I am using a bootcamped iMac 2016 with Windows 1 (newest as of October 7 2020). Like I said, completely normal 24 hours ago before updating Windows and AMD Drivers. V-Ray materials are slow to show up when selected within Rhino, and the Sun settings are slow as well. The Current Renderer in the Panel is BLANK, and the native interface between the two software is glitchy. When I select V-Ray from the Render Menu, as Peter has suggested, it “sticks” and the rendering software works … SORT OF. Well, technically I can select it, but it automatically reverts to Rhino Renderer after about 1 second. Now, I am unable to select V-Ray from within the Render Panel. Oddly, it was working fine yesterday before I had a whole fiasco with my AMD graphics driver update.
